Statistics Estonia has revised the entire time series of gross domestic product (GDP) starting from 1995. During the revision, updated basic data sources were incorporated and methodological improvements were made.

Johanna Linda Pihlak, analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that while turnover volume fell by 4% in September year on year, the decline was slightly slower in October. “The fall in the volume of retail trade turnover in October was mainly due to grocery stores, as their turnover volume decreased by 4% year on year. According to Statistics Estonia, in the 1st quarter of 2019, the Dwelling Price Index changed by 5.9% compared to the 1st quarter of the previous year. In yearly comparison, the Dwelling Price Index has shown an upward trend for the past nine years. Compared to the 4th quarter of 2018, the Dwelling Price Index changed by 1.7%.

According to Statistics Estonia, in March 2022, the consumer price index increased by 2.7% compared to February 2022 and by 15.2% compared to March 2021. Goods were 13.7% and services 18.1% more expensive than in March last year.

Helga Laurmaa, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that the number of accommodated tourists was still 6% lower than in September 2019. The number of foreign tourists in accommodation establishments was down by 20%, whereas the number of domestic tourists was 19% higher than in September of the record year before the crisis. “153,000 foreign and 125,000 domestic tourists were accommodated in Estonia in September 2024. However, the proportion of people who do not feel an affiliation to any religion has increased – from 54% in 2011 to 58% in 2021. The most prevalent religion in Estonia is Orthodox Christianity.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 3rd quarter of 2019, the Dwelling Price Index changed by 8.1% compared to the 3rd quarter of 2018 and by 2.4% compared to the 2nd quarter of 2019.

The increase in the consumer price index in January was 0.8% compared with December 2022 and 18.6% compared with January 2022. Goods were 19.0% and services 17.8% more expensive than in January last year.

According to Statistics Estonia, in April 2022, the consumer price index increased by 3.6% compared to March 2022, and by 18.8% compared to April 2021. Goods were 14.4% and services 27.8% more expensive than in April last year.

Terje Trasberg, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that 2024 was similar to 2023. “Last year, almost 6,000 more people died than were born. Immigration exceeded emigration by 550 people.
