Today, 1 September, marks the beginning of the 2020 Agricultural Census in Estonia. The census, which is organised every ten years, lasts until 15 November. Statistics Estonia expects around 11,600 agricultural holdings to participate in the census.

According to Statistics Estonia, 21.7% of the Estonian population lived at risk of poverty and 2.4% lived in absolute poverty in 2018. Compared to 2017, the share of people at risk of poverty decreased by 0.2 percentage points and the share of those living in absolute poverty by 0.3 percentage points.

The reference period for the EKOMAR questionnaire is a calendar year . In order to facilitate completion, the questionnaire is designed to be as similar as possible to the annual report. The annual report (AR) filed with the Business Register is one of the most important datasets used in the production of statistics. According to the preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, in 2010 exports of goods from Estonia amounted to 8.75 billion euros at current prices and imports to Estonia made up 9.27 billion euros. Last year exports of goods exceeded the highest level so far (the level of 2008) where the turnover of exports amounted to 8.47 billion euros.
