Statistic Estonia and Garage48 organise the first data visualisation hackathon in Estonia, to be held on 9–10 May at Palo Alto Club in Tallinn. The winning team will be awarded 3,000 euros and the next two teams 1,000 euros.

Today, on 29 July, Statistics Estonia presents the publication "Eesti statistika aastaraamat. 2015. Statistical Yearbook of Estonia", which provides a statistical overview of life in Estonia and comparisons with other European Union countries.

On Wednesday, 5th of August, Walter Radermacher, Director General of Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, will be on a one-day visit to Estonia. Today, on 14 November, Statistics Estonia presented an overview on how the trial census of the Register-Based Population and Housing Census was carried out and what the results of the trial census revealed about the presence and quality of dwelling data in registers.

According to Statistics Estonia, in April 2021, the consumer price index increased by 0.4% compared to March 2021 and by 1.9% compared to April 2020. Goods were 1.0% and services 3.3% more expensive than in April last year.

A total of 737,873 dwellings were counted in the 2021 Population and Housing Census, based on registers. Compared to the 2011 census, 47,793 new dwellings have been built, which is 1000 fewer than in the previous ten years (2001–2011). According to census data, there are now 14% more private houses than 10 years ago and 24% of all dwellings are vacant.

Today, on 20 October, a conference of Statistics Estonia and the Estonian Statistical Society “Registers and Big Data in Statistics”, presenting the options of using register and big data, will be held in Viljandi.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 2011 Population and Housing Census (PHC 2011) 657,791 dwellings were enumerated. Compared to the previous Census, the average area of the dwelling as well as the number of rooms per inhabitant have increased.
