Instead of the 2024 weights, the 2023 weights were included in the table. Corrections are marked in red. Lauri Veski, team lead of consumer price statistics at Statistics Estonia, said that exchange prices of electricity, motor vehicle tax and food products had the biggest impact on the consumer price index in February year on year. “Compared with February 2024, prices have increased across almost all categories of goods and services. According to Statistics Estonia, in 2012, 18.7% of the Estonian population lived in relative poverty and 7.3% in absolute poverty. The overall percentage of people living in relative poverty increased 1.2 percentage points compared to the previous year, but the percentage of people living in absolute poverty decreased 0.8 percentage points.

Lauri Veski, team lead of consumer price statistics at Statistics Estonia, said that, compared with October 2023, the consumer price index was affected the most by price changes related to food and non-alcoholic beverages, recreation, and phone services. “Among food products, the higher prices of non-alcoholic beverages (+20.4%), fruits (+12.4%) and vegetables (+5.5%) drove up the index the most compared with October last year.
