The producer price index of industrial output, which expresses changes in the producer prices of industrial goods manufactured in Estonia for the domestic market and for export, increased by 0.3% in April 2024 compared with March and decreased by 2.9% compared with April last year.

Helle Bunder, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that the volume of production in manufacturing decreased in 2024 as a whole but there were signs of improvement at the end of the year. “Manufacturing output started to grow in October and November but fell a little in December,” explained Bunder. According to Statistics Estonia, in April, the consumer price index increased by 0.9% compared with March and by 2.8% compared with April 2023. Goods were 2.4% and services 3.3% more expensive than in April last year.

In 2022, the average monthly gross wages and salaries in Estonian companies, institutions, and organisations were 1,685 euros, which is 8.9% more than in 2021. However, the average real wages decreased by 8.8% to 1,358 euros last year.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2020, men accounted for slightly more than a fifth of the 34,570 persons receiving parental benefit. The average monthly parental benefit was 1,170 euros for women and 1,638 euros for men. The parental benefit gap was the lowest ever.
