The e-census part of the Estonian Population and Housing Census ended on Saturday, January 22. According to the preliminary data, 568,891 persons, i.e. 43% of the Estonian population, were enumerated.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the third quarter of 2023, the dwelling price index decreased by 0.3% compared with the second quarter and increased by 3.8% compared with the third quarter of 2022.

The international Survey of Adult Skills (PIAAC), which aims to collect data on people’s everyday competencies such as literacy, numeracy, information-seeking, use of computers and information technology, as well as their education and work experience, begins today. According to Statistics Estonia, in 2021, the average monthly parental benefit was 1,205 euros for women and 1,463 euros for men. Last year, a total of 38,882 persons received parental benefit and a third of them were men.

Data collected from registers in the 2021 census reveal that in ten years, Estonia’s population has grown, people live longer, and the number of working-age persons has fallen. Over the last decade, Estonia has seen a rise in the number of ethnic nationalities, countries of citizenship, mother tongues, and countries of birth, as well as an increase in the number of Estonians.

According to Statistics Estonia, 706 tonnes of pesticides (by active substance) were placed on the market in 2017 in Estonia, which is 15% less than the year before.
