Today, on 11 January, Statistics Estonia presents its new publication Social Trends, which examines the coping, quality of life and well-being of households.

According to Statistics Estonia, the change of the consumer price index in April 2020 was -0.4% compared to March 2020 and -0.8% compared to April of the previous year.

According to Statistics Estonia, Estonia’s exports of goods in July amounted to 1.3 billion and imports to 1.6 billion euros. Compared with July 2022, exports of goods decreased by 26% and imports by 20% at current prices. As a result of the cooperation between Statistics Estonia, software company Skriining and Ida-Viru central hospital, the first set of wages data that were submitted directly from the enterprise’s IT system arrived at Statistics Estonia this spring.

Today, on 28 December, Statistics Estonia presents an overview of the availability and quality of personal, family and household data in registers based on the results of the trial census of the Register-Based Population and Housing Census.

According to the preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, on 1 January 2023, the population of Estonia was 1,357,739, which is 2% (25,943 persons) more than at the same time a year ago. In 2022, there were 11,588 births and 17,245 deaths in Estonia. Based on the data on registered migration, 42,022 persons immigrated to Estonia and 10,422 persons emigrated from Estonia. 75% (31,594) of the immigrants were from Ukraine.

Today, on 14 November, Statistics Estonia presented an overview on how the trial census of the Register-Based Population and Housing Census was carried out and what the results of the trial census revealed about the presence and quality of dwelling data in registers.

A total of 737,873 dwellings were counted in the 2021 Population and Housing Census, based on registers. Compared to the 2011 census, 47,793 new dwellings have been built, which is 1000 fewer than in the previous ten years (2001–2011). According to census data, there are now 14% more private houses than 10 years ago and 24% of all dwellings are vacant.
