The Statistical Council, formed by the order of the Government of the Republic, convened on 26 November. At the meeting, the results of the second trial census of the population and housing census were presented. The Statistical Council supports the decision of Statistics Estonia to combine the register-based census with sample surveys.

According to Statistics Estonia, starting today, 16 August, until Thursday, employees from the statistical institution of Bosnia-Herzegovina will be familiarising themselves with Estonia’s experience in organising population censuses, and with the preparatory work taking place for the 2011 Population and Housing Census (PHC 2011).

In the second quarter of 2025, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were the highest in Tallinn (€2,479), in Harju county (€2,365), and in Tartu county (€2,175). “Compared with the second quarter of last year, the biggest increase in wages and salaries was seen in Põlva county (7.7%) and Rapla county (7%). The smallest wage increase was registered in Ida-Viru county (3.8%),” said Sigrid Saagpakk, analyst at Statistics Estonia.
