Turnover of retail trade enterprises increased also in September

According to Statistics Estonia, in September, the turnover of retail trade enterprises was 618 million euros – an increase of 4% at constant prices compared to September of the previous year.

The turnover of stores selling manufactured goods increased by 5%. Turnover increased the most – by 9% – in other non-specialised stores selling predominantly manufactured goods (department stores). A higher than average increase in turnover occurred in stores selling household goods and appliances, hardware and building materials, in pharmacies and stores selling cosmetics and in stores selling textiles, clothing and footwear. In all three economic activities, the growth was 6%.

The turnover of grocery stores and the turnover of enterprises engaged in the retail sale of automotive fuel increased both by 4%.

Compared to the previous month, the turnover of retail trade enterprises decreased by 5%. According to the seasonally and working-day adjusted data, the turnover increased by 1%. In the nine months of 2019 (January–September), the turnover of retail trade enterprises increased by 5% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

The statistics are based on the VAT declaration data of the Estonian Tax and Customs Board. Statistics Estonia published the monthly summary in four working days.
