In September, the annual change of the consumer price index was influenced the most by housing expenditures and food

According to Statistics Estonia, the change of the consumer price index was 0.5% in September 2012 compared to August and 3.8% compared to September of the previous year.

Goods were 3.3% and services 4.6% more expensive compared to September 2011.

Regulated prices of goods and services have risen by 8.4% and non-regulated prices by 2.2% compared to September of the previous year.

Compared to the same month of the previous year, the consumer price index was continuously the most influenced by housing expenditures which gave over a third of the total increase. Of which in turn over a half gave 14.7% more expensive heat energy. Food gave 30% of the total increase, of which 7.7% more expensive meat and meat products accounted for two fifths and 20% more expensive fruits accounted for nearly a third compared to September of the previous year. 10.5% more expensive motor fuel gave over a sixth of the total increase. Compared to September of the previous year, of food products, the prices of miscellaneous fruits have increased the most (32%) and the prices of potatoes have decreased the most (11%).

In September compared to August, the consumer price index was mainly influenced by closing seasonal sales of clothing and footwear, seasonal price decrease of vegetables and 2.6% price increase of motor fuel. The prices of bananas increased the most (28%) and the prices of carrots decreased the most (36%).
