The increase in the consumer price index in January was 0.8% compared with December 2022 and 18.6% compared with January 2022. Goods were 19.0% and services 17.8% more expensive than in January last year.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the first quarter of 2022, there were 13,076 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia. This is 38% more than in the same quarter of 2021. More than 4,000 persons left their jobs on the employer’s initiative.

In July 2022, the producer price index of industrial output, which expresses changes in the producer prices of industrial goods manufactured in Estonia for the domestic market and for export, rose by 0.4% compared with June and by 28.8% compared with July 2021.

According to Statistics Estonia, in June, the total production of industrial enterprises increased by 0.4% at constant prices compared with June 2021. Output increased in two of the three sectors – by 18.4 in electricity production and by 28.9% in mining –, but fell by 2.5 in manufacturing.

Data from the 2021 census show that 84% of the current population lived in Estonia ten years ago as well, the proportion of people who have arrived from abroad has risen significantly, and the overall population of immigrants is increasingly international. For the last ten years, internal migration has been predominantly in the direction of Harju county.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2022, the total production of industrial enterprises fell by 1.9% at constant prices compared with the year before. Of the three main industrial sectors, production increased by 7.3% in mining and by 5.4% in energy production but decreased by 2.7% in manufacturing.

According to Statistics Estonia, exports of goods increased by 17% and imports by 23% in 2022 compared with 2021. In December 2022, both exports as well as imports remained at the level of 2021.

Statistical thresholds In 2025, the statistical threshold for the dispatches of goods is 350,000 euros (last year, it was the same). It means that, in 2025, Intrastat data have to be submitted by those enterprises whose turnover of goods dispatched to European Union countries exceeded 350,000 euros in 2024. If enterprises exceed the statistical threshold in 2025, they will also have to submit Intrastat data. Statistics Estonia has decided that the arrivals questionnaire will be abandoned from 2025. After three years of analysis it is now clear that the data on the movement of goods received
