Today, on 1 December, Statistics Estonia launched a publicity campaign to raise awareness among the Estonian population of the 2011 Population and Housing Census (PHC 2011), set to begin on 31 December. The people of Estonia will be given information about participation in the census through television and radio as well as through out-of-home advertising and direct mail.

According to Statistics Estonia, the preliminary estimate of the population of Estonia as at 1 January 2019 was 1,323,820, which is 4,690 persons more than at the same time a year ago.

Crop farming survey

What kind of survey is it? The crop farming survey provides data about areas under cultivation and harvested areas of agricultural crops, production and yield, fertilisers, organic farming, liming, seed use, and autumn sowings of winter crops. A large part of the data are obtained from registers (for example, data on areas under cultivation received from the Agricultural Registers and Information Board and data on units that fill in the electronic field book in e-ARIB), and missing data are collected from respondents with the survey. According to Statistics Estonia, the consumer price index decreased 2.2% in October 2009 compared to October 2008 and 0.1% compared to September 2009.

In the 2nd quarter the economy was continuously in decline

According to the first estimates of Statistics Estonia, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Estonia decreased by 16.1% in the 2nd quarter of 2009 compared to the same quarter in the previous year. The GDP decreased successively for six quarters.

In June, trade decreased year-on-year

According to Statistics Estonia, in June 2019, compared to June 2018, the exports and imports of goods decreased by 8%. Trade in mineral products decreased the most. In the first half-year, compared to the same period of the previous year, the exports of goods increased by 5% and imports by 2%.

The growth in business sector is slowing down

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 3rd quarter of 2011, the net sales, costs and total profit of the business sector increased compared to the previous quarter as well as to the same quarter of the previous year. At the same time the continually improving comparison basis turns the growth rate slower.
