What kind of survey is it? The Farm Structure Survey gives an overview of the state of agriculture in Estonia. This information is required for developing agricultural policies. The survey provides statistics on agricultural holdings that are comparable across the European Union (EU). Agriculture produces almost 100% of food, covers around 40% of the EU territory, and takes up about 30% of the EU budget. The EU’s Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) is the only policy the implementation of which is almost entirely financed by EU funds – therefore, it must be based on detailed input data. Farm

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2015, exports from Estonia amounted to 11.6 billion euros and imports to Estonia to 13.1 billion euros at current prices. Trade has been declining for the last three years but the biggest fall occurred in 2015.

Coronavirus and the ensuing economic crisis have affected the labour market also in Estonia. Since April, Statistics Estonia is publishing short-term statistics on changes in the labour market. Interactive charts give an overview of the current labour market situation on the basis of weekly data from the employment register. According to the revised data of Statistics Estonia, 1,324,820 persons lived in Estonia on 1 January 2019, which is 5,687 persons more than at the same time a year earlier. In 2018, the population figure decreased by 1,384 persons due to negative natural change, but increased by 7,071 persons as a result of positive net migration.
