According to Statistics Estonia, by flash estimates, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Estonia increased by 4% in the 4th quarter of 2011 compared to the same quarter of the previous year. In 2011, the annual GDP grew by 7.5% compared to the previous year.

According to the preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, in 2013 the production of industrial enterprises grew 3% compared to the previous year. Both export sales and the sales on the domestic market increased.

The focus of the global goal “Gender Equality” is basic rights of women and girls and gender equality. In order to achieve the goal, it is important to contribute more, including establish legal frameworks to help reduce gender discrimination and change attitudes and social norms. The 2030 Agenda lays down ending gender inequality affecting women and girls, ending abuse against them and empowering them. The trade of high-tech goods is showing a declining trend

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2008 exports of high-tech (HT) goods from Estonia totalled 4.6 billion kroons at current prices and imports of high-tech goods to Estonia amounted to 9.8 billion kroons. The share of HT goods in Estonia’s trade has significantly decreased during the last years.
Comparative survey of household and place of residence data to begin in May

Today, Statistics Estonia presented at a press conference a comparative survey of household and place of residence data. The survey, taking place from May until October, is conducted to test the quality of the methodology of the register-based population and housing census. 30,000 persons will be surveyed.
The Population and Housing Census will show the number of inhabitants with two mother tongues and two nationalities

Researchers and officials have a special interest to find out through the census how many people living in Estonia have two nationalities and speak two mother tongues. Although information on nationality and mother tongue is also available in the population register, it is the first time that it is possible to choose two options in the census questionnaire.
