Tomorrow, on 20 October the World Statistics Day is celebrated for the first time under the auspices of the United Nations. In addition to the conference taking place tomorrow, Statistics Estonia has provided an overview about the life in Estonia during one statistical day.

According to Statistics Estonia, there were almost 6,600 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia in the 4th quarter of 2015. The number of job vacancies decreased by 25.5% compared to the previous quarter and by 8.4% compared to the 4th quarter of 2014. In 2015, the number of job vacancies was the largest in the 2nd and 3rd quarters.

According to the preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, there were 95,800 dairy cows in Estonia in 2009, which makes 5% less compared to the previous year.

According to the initial estimates of Statistics Estonia, the population number of Estonia as at 1 January 2015 was 1,312,300, which is 3,600 persons less than at the same time a year ago.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 1st quarter of 2014, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 966 euros and the average hourly gross wages and salaries were 6.02 euros. Compared to the 1st quarter of 2013, the average monthly gross wages and salaries increased 7.3% and the average hourly gross wages and salaries increased 6.9%.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2016, the expenditure on research and development (R&D) in Estonia amounted to 270.3 million euros, which is 11% less than in 2015.

According to Statistics Estonia there were 2.6 million cinema visits in 2014, which is an all-time record since the restoration of independence. In the last nine years, cinema attendance has increased each year.

According to Statistics Estonia, there were more than 6,300 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia in the 4th quarter of 2011 – this is 31% more than in the same period last year. The rate of job vacancies was 1.3%.

According to Statistics Estonia, in February 2018, the production of industrial enterprises increased 2% compared to February 2017. Production increased in mining and in energy. Production in manufacturing stayed at previous year’s level.

According to Statistics Estonia, 40 full-length films were released in 2013. They included 10 of full-length feature films, 27 full-length documentaries, two full length animations and one other film.
