According to Statistics Estonia,  expenditures on research and development in Estonia amounted to 380.7 million euros in 2012, being 3.7 million euros or 1% less than in 2011.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2011, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 839 euros and increased by 5.9% compared to the previous year. The real wages also increased after the two years’ decrease.

The corrections are marked in red. Lauri Veski, team lead of consumer price statistics at Statistics Estonia, said that the rise in the consumer price index in January, both compared to December and the same month last year, was mainly due to food products, beverages, and motor vehicle tax. “On the other hand, the index was driven down by the sales on clothing in January and by international flights and holiday trips,” added Veski. Among food products, the biggest increases compared with December 2024 were registered in the prices of fish (31%), whole milk (12%) and fresh vegetables (7%)

Lauri Veski, team lead of consumer price statistics at Statistics Estonia, said that the consumer price index in June was up by 0.9% compared with May and by 5% year on year. “Compared with June 2024, the index was affected the most by the 8.4% higher prices of food products. In transport, prices increased by 7.5%, mainly due to the motor vehicle tax introduced in January and price changes in passenger transport. In the first quarter, the prices of apartments rose by 2.7% and the prices of houses by 8.9% compared with the same quarter last year. According to Statistics Estonia, in the 3rd quarter of 2011, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 809 euros and the average hourly gross wages and salaries were 4.82 euros.
