According to Statistics Estonia’s projection, if the current demographic trends continue, the population of Estonia will decrease by 125,000 in the next roughly 30 years due to negative natural increase and negative net migration. Thus, the projected population of Estonia in 2040 will be 1,195,000.

In 2012, Statistics Estonia will collect the data from nearly 40,000 economic units. From now on, it is possible to check on the web site of Statistics Estonia whether the economic unit has been picked into the sample and has an obligation to submit the data.

According to Statistics Estonia, by preliminary data, the population number in Estonia was 1,316,500 on 1 January 2012. The decline in the estimated population in 2011 was influenced by the decrease in the number of births as well as by the increase of emigration.
The 2011 Population and Housing Census has begun

Today, in the first minutes of 31 December, the eleventh Population and Housing Census began in Estonia. Until the end of January, residents can participate in the Census online, since mid-February enumerators will be visiting homes.
Every fifth person in Estonia lived in relative poverty in 2014

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2014, 21.6% of the Estonian population lived in relative poverty and 6.3% in absolute poverty. The overall percentage of people living in relative poverty decreased 0.5 percentage points compared to the previous year, the percentage of people living in absolute poverty decreased 1.7 percentage points.

According to Statistics Estonia, there were 7,600 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia in the 2th quarter of 2014. The number of job vacancies increased by 6.3% compared to the previous quarter and by 0.4% compared to the 2nd quarter of 2013.
Long-term unemployment has significantly decreased

According to Statistics Estonia, the unemployment rate was 6.5% and the employment rate was 65.1% in the 2nd quarter of 2015. Compared to the second quarters of the previous years, the number of long-term unemployed persons fell under 20,000 for the first time after the recession.
Kindergarten days of Estonian children are long

According to Statistics Estonia, a child from the age of three up to the school age stays in the kindergarten for approximately 40 hours a week, which is one of the highest indicators of the European Union. In the European Union the children of the same age group are in the kindergarten on an average for 28 hours a week.
For Museum Day: Museum attendance shows an upward trend

Year 2009 was Museum Year in Estonia. According to Statistics Estonia, in spite of the economic recession, the attendance of museums increased by 8% in 2009 compared to the previous year, amounting to over 2.2 million.
