Article 104 of The Treaty establishing the European Community comprises a commitment for the EU Member States to avoid excessive budgetary deficits. In December 2021, the producer price index of industrial output, which expresses changes in the producer prices of industrial goods manufactured in Estonia for the domestic market and for export, increased by 24.7% compared to December 2020 and by 5.3% compared to November 2021.

According to Statistics Estonia, in May 2022, Estonian accommodation establishments served nearly 249,000 tourists, which is 176% more than in May last year. Both the number of domestic and foreign tourists* increased.

Considering the turnover, internal trade is the largest economic activity in Estonia. It covers wholesale and retail trade as well as repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles. Internal trade is closely connected with other activities – goods that people buy in shops or on the internet come from factories, craftsmen and farmers.
