Year on year, the number of domestic tourists fell, as it did in several months in 2024. According to Statistics Estonia's survey on information technology, the use of artificial intelligence-based technologies has risen significantly in 2024 compared with the previous year, and cyber security has become increasingly important. 5% of enterprises used at least one AI technology in 2023, whereas in 2024, this figure has risen to 14%. Of large enterprises, 10% said they had experienced a disclosure of confidential data.

Johanna Linda Pihlak, analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that the turnover volume of retail trade enterprises was up by 1% in December year on year and grew even more in January. “The rise in retail trade volume in January was mainly due to stores selling manufactured goods, where turnover volume rose by 6% compared with January 2024,” explained Pihlak. Among stores selling manufactured goods, turnover volume increased the most, by 15%, in stores selling via mail order or the internet. The volume of turnover was up by 11% in other specialised stores selling predominantly computers and their
