According to Statistics Estonia, in January 2022, the consumer price index changed by -0.1% compared to December 2021 and by 11.3% compared to January 2021. Goods were 9.0% and services 16.0% more expensive than in January last year.

According to Statistics Estonia, the change of the consumer price index in July 2020 was 0.0% compared to June 2020 and -0.9% compared to July 2019. Goods were 0.2% and services 2.0% cheaper.

In the population census online test survey, which started at the end of last year, Statistics Estonia received answers about 828 persons living at 410 addresses. Interviewers started working on 20 January and they will contact by phone the people who live at the addresses in the survey sample but who did not respond to the questionnaire online.

Statistics Estonia will decide at the end of this year whether the 2021 Population and Housing Census will be register-based. The decision will be made based on the results and quality of the ongoing second trial census.

Swen Peterson, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that herbicides are still the most sold type of plant protection products. “In 2024, sales of herbicides totalled 597 tonnes, which is over 80 tonnes more than in 2023. According to Statistics Estonia, starting today, 16 August, until Thursday, employees from the statistical institution of Bosnia-Herzegovina will be familiarising themselves with Estonia’s experience in organising population censuses, and with the preparatory work taking place for the 2011 Population and Housing Census (PHC 2011).
