According to Statistics Estonia, in the 1st quarter of 2009, 1,700 enterprises operated in the information and communications technologies (ICT) sector, which gave 5% of the net sales of the business sector.

Statistics Estonia will organise the pilot census of the 2011 Population and Housing Census in nine local governments of Estonia in autumn 2009. About 10,000 persons and their dwellings will be enumerated during the census.

According to Statistics Estonia,  expenditures on research and development in Estonia amounted to 380.7 million euros in 2012, being 3.7 million euros or 1% less than in 2011.

Lauri Veski, team lead of consumer price statistics at Statistics Estonia, said that the consumer price index in June was up by 0.9% compared with May and by 5% year on year. “Compared with June 2024, the index was affected the most by the 8.4% higher prices of food products. According to Statistics Estonia, in the 3rd quarter of 2013, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 930 euros and the average hourly gross wages and salaries were 5.58 euros. Compared to the 3rd quarter of 2012, the average monthly gross wages and salaries increased 8.8% and the average hourly gross wages and salaries increased 7.1%.

According to the data of the 2011 Population and Housing Census (PHC 2011) of Statistics Estonia, 67% of persons employed in Estonia worked in service sector, 29% in industrial sector and only 4% in primary sector.

Helga Laurmaa, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that 108,000 foreign and 109,000 domestic tourists were accommodated in Estonia in March 2025. “The number of foreign tourists was 7% lower than in March last year and it was also smaller compared with March 2019 (down by 13%),” explained Laurmaa.
