Epp Remmelg, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that life expectancy has shown a steady uptrend in Estonia, with the exception of the pandemic years. “Last year, compared with 2024, life expectancy increased by 0.5 years for men and by 0.1 years for women,” said Remmelg. She added that since 1995, when life expectancy at birth was 67.6 years, it has increased by 12.2 years and reached 79.8 years in 2025. According to Statistics Estonia, in the second quarter of 2024, the unemployment rate was 7.6%, the employment rate was 69.7%, and the labour force participation rate was 75.4%.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2023, the average expenditure of Estonian residents on overnight outbound trips was greater than in the period before the COVID-19 pandemic. The average spending on outbound trips has increased by 43% in the years 2018–2023. The number of tourists accommodated in Estonia has not yet reached the pre-pandemic level, but the share of domestic tourists has increased significantly compared with 2018.

Lauri Veski, manager of the consumer price statistics service team at Statistics Estonia, said that the biggest impact on the consumer price index in 2025 came from price increases related to food and non-alcoholic beverages. “The prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages rose by 6.9% last year,” said Veski. Among food products, the biggest rise occurred in the prices of chocolate (31.5%), coffee (31%), poultry (15.2%) and fresh fruits and berries (12.7%).
