According to Statistics Estonia, unemployed persons numbered 47,000 and the unemployment rate was 6.9% in the 2nd quarter of 2014. Employment increased compared to the 1st quarter, but decreased compared to the same quarter of the previous year. This shows that Estonia is gradually facing the consequences of declining labour force.

According to Statistics Estonia, the unemployment rate was 6.2%, the employment rate was 65.2% and the labour force participation rate was 69.4% in 2015. The unemployment level was significantly lower and the employment rate and labour force participation rate higher than in 2014. The positive change on the labour market was that the decrease of the employment stopped.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 3rd quarter of 2011, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 809 euros and the average hourly gross wages and salaries were 4.82 euros. Compared to the 3rd quarter of the previous year, the average monthly gross wages and salaries grew 6.6% and the average hourly gross wages and salaries by 4.7%.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2010, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 792 euros (12,397 kroons) and the hourly gross wages and salaries were 4.78 euros (74.84 kroons). Compared to the 1st quarter of 2013, the average monthly gross wages and salaries increased 7.3% and the average hourly gross wages and salaries increased 6.9%.

According to Statistics Estonia, at midnight the e-census of the pilot Census of PHC 2011 came to an end. In the course of e-census, 5497 persons were enumerated via Internet. In March the pilot Census will be continued with face-to-face interviews, when the interviewers of Statistics Estonia visit the inhabitants who did not participate in e-census.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 4th quarter of 2014, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 1,039 euros and increased by 5.3% compared to the 4th quarter of 2013. In 2014, the average monthly gross wages and salaries exceeded the 1,000 euro level in the 2nd and 4th quarter.
