Main events in the history of Estonian statistics 2024 Statistics Estonia focuses on reducing the administrative burden to save time for respondents. As a result , Estonia becomes the first EU country where enterprises engaged in foreign trade no longer have to report arrivals data, which decreases the reporting burden by a third, on average. Statistics Estonia hosts the DGINS conference and is recognised by the city of Tallinn for organising one of the standout events in 2024. 2023 Statistics Estonia defines a customer-centric future perspective and continues efforts to ease the reporting

Births and deaths are a normal part of life. They also have an impact on the number of population of a country. Around a half of deaths in Estonia are caused by diseases of the circulatory system, followed by cancers. The number of deaths caused by cancers gradually increases with age. The causes of death are very different by age. Almost a half of the deaths of children and young people are a result of accidents. Deaths caused by accidents decrease with age. The data on the deaths of Estonian inhabitants help to predict population change and implement measures to prevent early deaths.

There is exactly one week left until the end of the Population and Housing Census, as data collection continues with phone interviews. Due to the epidemic, there will be no home visits during this census. But enumerators are visiting the addresses included in the mandatory random sample to post notes that ask residents to make contact.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2022, the labour force participation rate was 73.3%, the employment rate was 69.2%, and the unemployment rate was 5.6%. There were 677,400 employed persons, which is the highest number of recent years.

According to Statistics Estonia, in January, the consumer price index increased by 1.4% compared with December and by 4.7% compared with January 2023. Goods were 2.9% and services 7.9% more expensive than in January last year.
