According to Statistics Estonia, in the 2nd quarter of 2011, the net sales, costs and total profit of the business sector increased compared to the previous quarter as well as to the same quarter of the previous year. At the same time the continually improving comparison basis turns the growth rate slower.
According to the data of the 2011 Population and Housing Census (PHC 2011), 388,077 persons or 30% of Estonian residents suffered from some long-term illness or health problem. People with higher education suffer from long-term illnesses on average two times less than persons with basic or lower education.
According to Statistics Estonia, the freight volume (in tonne-kilometres) of Estonian transport enterprises increased by 8% in 2010 compared to the previous year, mainly due to the increase in the freight volume of sea and railway transport in international traffic.
According to Statistics Estonia, in November 2012 compared to November of the previous year, the retail sales of goods of retail trade enterprises increased 6% at constant prices. The increase in sales was mostly influenced by grocery stores, where the retail sales increased 5%.

During the last five years the share of electricity generated from oil shale has decreased by nearly a tenth. According to Statistics Estonia, in the 1st quarter of 2011, seven out of ten households in Estonia had Internet connection at home, most of them broadband connection. The percentage of households with Internet connection has slightly increased every year during the last five years.
According to Statistics Estonia, the change of the consumer price index was 0.1% in November 2011 compared to October and 4.2% compared to November of the previous year.
