“Looking at the wage change trend, wage growth is still slower now than in 2023,” said Sigrid Saagpakk, analyst at Statistics Estonia. Average wages in seven groups of economic activities are higher than the national average Saagpakk stated that the average monthly gross wages and salaries in the third quarter of 2024 were the highest in information and communication (€3,506), financial and insurance activities (€3,068), and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (€2,540). The lowest average monthly gross wages and salaries were seen in accommodation and food service (€1,285)

Sigrid Saagpakk, analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that, in the first quarter of 2025, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were the highest in Tallinn (2,384 euros) and in Harju (2,263 euros) and Tartu (2,023 euros) counties. “Compared with the first quarter of last year, the biggest increase in wages was seen in Tartu (7.2%) and Ida-Viru (6.9%) counties. The rise in average monthly wages was the slowest in Harju county, excluding Tallinn – 4.8%,” noted Saagpakk. The average monthly gross wages and salaries in the first quarter of 2025 were 475 euros higher than in the first quarter

In 1993, the share of under-30s among all people getting married was between 60% and 70%, whereas in 2023, only 24% of the newly married men and 34% of women were under 30 years old, according to data from Statistics Estonia.

Helle Bunder, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that the volume of production in manufacturing decreased in 2024 as a whole but there were signs of improvement at the end of the year. “Manufacturing output started to grow in October and November but fell a little in December,” explained Bunder. Last year, production volume declined in two thirds of the 23 manufacturing activities.
