What is official statistics? Official statistics are public information that reflect the social situation and changes in the society. Official statistics are produced on the basis of the Official Statistics Act and in accordance with the principles and quality criteria laid down in Regulation (EC) No 223/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council. The production of official statistics is guided by the needs of the society or the European Union statistical programme. According to Statistics Estonia, in October 2013, the gross hourly earnings of female employees were 24.8% lower than the gross hourly earnings of male employees, and the gender pay gap grew by 0.2 percentage points compared to the previous year. The gender pay gap was almost non-existent in transportation and storage.

Growth in wages and salaries stalled across Estonia

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 2nd quarter of 2020, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 1,433 euros, which is 1% higher than last year. While in county comparison, both increase and decrease in wages could be observed, the year-on-year growth has not been as modest in ten years.
