According to Statistics Estonia, in the academic year 2020/2021, international students and graduates in Estonia paid more than ever before in labour taxes: a total of 16 million euros. At the same time, the number of international students was smaller, while the number of international graduates continued to rise. International students and graduates were most likely to work in information and communication as well as in education. Compared to local students, they worked more often in start-up enterprises.

In 2023, the number of outbound and domestic trips increased respectively by 40% and 20% compared with the year before. The main destinations of choice were Finland, Latvia, Italy and Turkey.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the third quarter of 2022, there were 13,190 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia. This is 15% more than in the same quarter of 2021. Over 5,000 people left their jobs at the initiative of the employer.

Lauri Veski, team lead of consumer price statistics at Statistics Estonia, said that, compared with September 2023, the consumer price index was affected the most by price changes related to food and non-alcoholic beverages, motor fuel and oils, and miscellaneous goods and services. “Among food products, the biggest increases compared with September last year occurred in the prices of juices and syrups, which rose by 57.1%, and the prices of olive oil, which increased by 56.3%. According to Statistics Estonia, the average monthly gross wages and salaries in the second quarter of 2024 were €2,007, which is 7.2% higher than in the same quarter the year before. The median wages were €1,641 in the second quarter of this year and €1,524 in the same quarter of 2023.

According to Statistics Estonia, in April 2022, the total production of industrial enterprises increased by 3.8% at constant prices compared to April 2021. Output increased in two of the three industrial sectors: by 3.7% in manufacturing and by 9.6% in electricity production. In mining, output fell by 13.0%.
