According to Statistics Estonia, in the 1st quarter of 2018, the unemployment rate was 6.8%, the employment rate 66.6% and the labour force participation rate 71.4%. Compared to the 1st quarter of 2017, economic activity of the population increased mainly due to an increase in unemployment but somewhat also due to an increase in employment.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2018, the labour force participation rate was 71.9%, the employment rate was 68.1% and the unemployment rate was 5.4%. The number of long‑term unemployed was the lowest of the last 20 years.

According to Statistics Estonia, the number of data providers will decrease in 2017 compared to previous years due to the introduction of database data and use of sample surveys.
Statistics Estonia: Enumerators will start visiting people from 16 February

The enumerators will visit people in the Population and Housing Census starting at the end of the year only during the period 16.02 – 31.03.2012 and present their employment certificate with a photo issued by Statistics Estonia. The gender pay gap remained at the level of previous year

According to Statistics Estonia, in October 2017, the average gross hourly earnings of female employees were 20.9% lower than the average gross hourly earnings of male employees. After three years of decrease, the gender pay gap remained at the same level as in the previous year.
Last year, every fifth person lived in relative poverty

According to Statistics Estonia, 21.1% of the Estonian population, i.e. nearly 276,000 persons lived in relative poverty in 2016. The percentage of people living in relative poverty decreased 0.6 percentage points compared to the previous year.
