The economic crisis did not cut down the innovativeness of enterprises

According to Statistics Estonia, the data of the Innovation Survey show that 56.8% of enterprises were innovative in 2010. The innovativeness of enterprises remained on the level of 2008, when the innovative enterprises accounted for 56.4%.

According to Statistics Estonia, in March 2016 compared to March 2015, the turnover of retail trade enterprises increased 3% at constant prices. While in January, the turnover increased 8% compared to the same month of the previous year and in February the growth decelerated to 5%, then in March the turnover growth decelerated even more.

What kind of survey is it?

There are four separate Business Surveys to collect information from enterprises in four sectors: construction, industry, trade, and services. The surveys are used to monitor developments in the business activities of the relevant enterprises, and the underlying factors. The collected data help to assess economic trends at the country, European Union (EU) and euro-area level.

A confidence indicator is produced for each surveyed sector, and the overall Economic Sentiment Indicator is calculated based on these. The survey also provides early and relevant information

Business statistics are produced on the basis of the data of economically active entities. However, not all economic units in legal registers are actively operating. The statistical subject matter domain of economic units involves: identifying economically active entities; specifying statistical units for producing official statistics; classifying economic entities on the basis of international standards.
