Producer price index of industrial output fell by 1,5% in June
The producer price index of industrial output, which expresses changes in the producer prices of industrial goods manufactured in Estonia for the domestic market and for export, fell by 1.4% in June 2025 compared with May and by 1.5% compared with June last year.
Germo Valgenberg, leading analyst in the producer price statistics team at Statistics Estonia, said that, compared with June 2024, the producer price index was most affected by price decreases in electricity production and in the manufacture of fuel oils. “Higher prices in the manufacture of wood and wood products and food products had the opposite effect on the index. Producer prices increased by 1.3% in manufacturing as a whole, and the rise in the manufacture of food products continued, increasing by 5.7% year on year,” Valgenberg added.
Compared with May, the producer price index in June was mainly affected by price decreases in electricity production and in the manufacture of electronic products and basic metals. The index was also influenced by price increases in the manufacture of wood and food products.
In June, the export price index was down by 0.7% compared with May. Prices decreased the most for electricity, paper and paper products, and electronic products. The greatest price increases were recorded in mining and quarrying, for petroleum products, and industrial machinery and equipment. Compared with June 2024, the export price index was up by 0.8%.
The import price index decreased by 1.4% in June compared with May. Prices fell the most for electricity, in mining and quarrying, and for furniture. The biggest increases were seen in the prices of petroleum products, precious metals, and tobacco products. Compared with June 2024, the import price index was down by 1.8%.
