In January, exports of goods were up by 4% and imports down by 2%
According to Statistics Estonia, in January 2026, exports of goods increased by 4% and imports decreased by 2% compared with January 2025. Exports of goods amounted to nearly 1.6 billion euros and imports to more than 1.8 billion euros at current prices. The trade deficit was 247 million euros, which is 103 million euros less than a year earlier.
The number of job vacancies was the highest in education and trade
According to Statistics Estonia, in the fourth quarter of 2025, there were 8,553 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia. The number of vacant posts was the highest in education and wholesale and retail trade.
Industrial production grew by 5.9% in January year on year
According to Statistics Estonia, in January 2026, the total production of industrial enterprises increased by 5.9% at constant prices compared with January last year. Output grew in all three industrial sectors: by 10.7% in mining, by 3.1% in manufacturing and by 21.7% in energy production.
The consumer price index was up by 3.1% in February year on year
According to Statistics Estonia, in February, the consumer price index increased by 0.8% compared with January and by 3.1% compared with February 2025. Goods were 2.5% and services 4% more expensive than in February last year.
Average wages increased by 5.6% last year
According to Statistics Estonia, the average monthly gross wages and salaries in 2025 were 2,092 euros, which is 5.6% higher than in 2024. In the fourth quarter of 2025, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 2,155 euros, which is 4.5% higher than in the same quarter of 2024.
The growth in foreign trade in services was mainly driven by imports and exports of other business services
According to Statistics Estonia and Eesti Pank, in the fourth quarter of 2025, Estonia’s exports of services grew by 8% and imports by 6%. Exports of services totalled 3.6 billion euros and imports 2.8 billion euros at current prices. In 2025 as a whole, exports of services increased by 10% and imports by 11%, amounting to 13.8 billion and 10.6 billion euros, respectively.
