According to Statistics Estonia, in 2009 the ratio of research and development (R&D) expenditures to the gross domestic product (called the intensity of the R&D) reached unprecedented level of 1.42% despite the actual decrease of those expenditures.
According to Statistics Estonia, 372,000 domestic and foreign tourists stayed in Estonian accommodation establishments in June 2017, which is 8% more than in June 2016.
According to Statistics Estonia, in November 2016, the exports of goods increased by 6% and imports by 7% compared to November 2015. The rise in exports was influenced the most by an increase in the exportation of wood and articles of wood and mechanical appliances and the rise in imports by an increase in the importation of base metals and articles of base metal.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2011 compared to the previous year, the electricity production from renewable sources has increased by 13%. During the last five years the share of electricity generated from oil shale has decreased by nearly a tenth. At the same time the electricity production from renewable sources has increased eight times.
According to Statistics Estonia, in November 2015, 207,000 tourists stayed in accommodation establishments which is 3% fewer than in November 2014. The number of domestic tourists increased and the number of foreign tourists decreased.
