In June the number of tourists in accommodation establishments increased
223,500 foreign tourists and 122,100 domestic tourists used the services of accommodation establishments. Compared to June of the previous year, the number of foreign tourists increased by 6% and the number of domestic tourists – by 8%. 43% of the foreign tourists arrived from Finland, 10% from Germany, 7% from Russia and 6% from Latvia. Compared to June 2015, the number of tourists having arrived from Finland and Latvia increased by 1% and 17% (respectively), while the number of tourists from Russia declined by 2%. There was also an increase in the number of tourists arriving from several other European countries – Germany, Lithuania, Sweden, France, etc. Among tourists using the services of accommodation establishments, the number of tourists arriving from Asian countries continued to increase. One-third of the foreign tourists having used accommodation services stayed in accommodation establishments located outside of Tallinn, 35% of them stayed in the accommodation establishments of Pärnu county, 17% in Tartu county and 12% in Saare county.
35% of the clients of accommodation establishments were domestic tourists, of whom 66% were on a holiday trip and 21% on a business trip. 22% of the domestic tourists having used accommodation services stayed in the accommodation establishments of Harju county, 15% in Pärnu county, 11% in Ida-Viru county and 8% in Saare county.
In June, 1,291 accommodation establishments offered services for tourists. 22,000 rooms and 53,000 beds (1,300 beds more than in June 2015) were available for tourists. 50% of the rooms and 41% of the beds were occupied. The average cost of a guest night was 35 euros or one euro more than in June a year earlier. The average cost of a guest night was 43 euros in Harju county, 33 euros in Pärnu county, 32 euros in Tartu county, and 28 euros in Saare county.
