According to Statistics Estonia, the gross domestic product (GDP) decreased by 2.9% in the second quarter of 2023 compared with the same quarter a year earlier. The GDP at current prices amounted to 9.4 billion euros.

There was a broad-based decline in retail trade turnover in July

According to Statistics Estonia, in July, the turnover of retail trade enterprises was 893 million euros. Compared with July 2022, turnover fell by 9% at constant prices.

Construction volume down by 12% in the second quarter (corrected on 28.08.2023)

According to Statistics Estonia, in the second quarter of 2023, the total production value of Estonian construction enterprises in Estonia and abroad decreased by 12% at constant prices compared with the second quarter of 2022. Producer price index of industrial output, export and import price index, July 2023

The producer price index of industrial output, which expresses changes in the producer prices of industrial goods manufactured in Estonia for the domestic market and for export, fell by 1.0% in July 2023 compared with June and by 3.2% compared with July last year.

Number of unemployed persons up by 8,500 from last year

Exports of goods of Estonian origin decreased in June

According to Statistics Estonia, in June, Estonia’s exports of goods amounted to 1.6 billion and imports to 1.9 billion euros. Compared with June 2022, exports of goods decreased by 14% and imports by 13% at current prices. The trade deficit in June was 271 million euros, which is 33 million euros less than in the same month last year.

Number of domestic tourists falling for several months in a row, number of foreign tourists grew in June

According to Statistics Estonia, 337,000 tourists stayed in accommodation establishments in June 2023, the same as in June last year. The number of foreign tourists increased, while the number of domestic tourists decreased.

Consumer price index fell in July

According to Statistics Estonia, in July, the consumer price index decreased by 0.6% compared with June 2023 and increased by 6.4% compared with July 2022. Goods were 8.1% and services 3.1% more expensive than in July last year.
