Overviews of small regions and population groups

How many people are affected by a planned new law or amendment? For an analysis of the impact of legislation, we compiled overviews of specific population groups. For example, we studied the coping of small ethnic groups and prepared overviews on the young. There were also summaries of social tax payments of sole proprietors compiled.

Enumerators are out and about, but there are no home visits

There is exactly one week left until the end of the Population and Housing Census, as data collection continues with phone interviews. Due to the epidemic, there will be no home visits during this census. But enumerators are visiting the addresses included in the mandatory random sample to post notes that ask residents to make contact.

Unemployment decreased last year

According to Statistics Estonia, the unemployment rate was 10.2% in 2012 and 9.3% in the 4th quarter. Unemployment decreased compared to the previous year and the 4th quarter of the previous year. Long-term unemployment also decreased.

Statistical information at a sub-national level is an important tool for highlighting specific regional aspects. It helps to analyse changes and the impact that policy decisions can have on our daily life.

Gross wages and salaries are remuneration specified in the employment contract or legislation, including remuneration paid for performance and transactions, which includes taxes and payments withheld under the law. All economically active enterprises, institutions and organisations with at least one employee are taken into account.

Number of job vacancies higher in the third quarter than a year earlier

According to Statistics Estonia, in the third quarter of 2022, there were 13,190 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia. This is 15% more than in the same quarter of 2021. Over 5,000 people left their jobs at the initiative of the employer.
