Organic farming area and number of organic livestock decreased last year
According to Statistics Estonia, in 2023, the organic farming area in Estonia was 225,300 hectares, representing 22.8% of total utilised agricultural area. 92% of the organic farming area was fully converted and the rest was under conversion. Compared with 2022, the organic farming area decreased by 2.5%, and 78 organic producers ceased activities.

In March, trade increased with EU countries
According to Statistics Estonia, in March 2019, compared to March 2018, the exports of goods increased by 8% and imports by 5%. The trade growth was due to increased exports and imports with the European Union countries.

More births and smaller emigration increased the population figure
According to the revised data of Statistics Estonia, 1,324,820 persons lived in Estonia on 1 January 2019, which is 5,687 persons more than at the same time a year earlier. According to Statistics Estonia, in March 2019, in total 233,000 domestic and foreign tourists stayed in accommodation establishments, which is 3% less than in March 2018. The number of domestic tourists increased and the number of foreign tourists decreased compared to March last year.
