Organic farming area and number of organic livestock decreased last year
According to Statistics Estonia, in 2023, the organic farming area in Estonia was 225,300 hectares, representing 22.8% of total utilised agricultural area. 92% of the organic farming area was fully converted and the rest was under conversion. Compared with 2022, the organic farming area decreased by 2.5%, and 78 organic producers ceased activities.

In April, the volume of industrial production increased
According to Statistics Estonia, in April 2016, the production of industrial enterprises increased 1% compared to April of the previous year. Production increased in the energy sector and manufacturing, but decreased in mining and quarrying.

Construction volumes increased in the 1st quarter
According to Statistics Estonia, in the 1st quarter of 2016 compared to the same quarter of the previous year, the total production of Estonian construction enterprises in Estonia and foreign countries increased 3%. If only the Estonian construction market is taken into account, the construction volumes increased 5%.

In the 1st quarter, the increase in average monthly gross wages and salaries accelerated slightly
According to Statistics Estonia, in the 1st quarter of 2016, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 1,091 euros and the average hourly gross wages and salaries were 6.86 euros. Compared to the 1st quarter of 2015, the average monthly gross wages and salaries increased by 8.1% and the average hourly gross wages and salaries by 7.7%. In the 1st quarter, the average annual growth of monthly gross wages and salaries was slightly faster than in the 4th quarter of 2015.

Last year, immigration exceeded emigration for the first time after the restoration of independence in Estonia
According to Statistics Estonia, 15,413 persons immigrated to and 13,003 persons emigrated from Estonia in 2015. Net migration was 2,410 and natural increase -1,336, meaning that immigration compensated for the population decrease which occurred due to negative natural increase.

The producer price index of industrial output decreased in April
According to Statistics Estonia, in April 2016, the producer price index of industrial output changed by -0.3% compared to March 2016 and by -1.7% compared to April 2015.

Last year, the average monthly gross income exceeded 1,000 euros for the first time
According to Statistics Estonia, in 2015, the average monthly gross income per employee was 1013 euros. The increase continued at the same rate as in the previous years, i.e., at 6% per year.

The volume of aquaculture production sold fell last year
According to Statistics Estonia, in 2015, the total amount of commercial fish and crayfish sold by aquaculture enterprises was 795 tonnes, with a total value of 3.3 million euros. Compared to 2014, the amount of fish and crayfish production sold has decreased 8% and the monetary value of production – 3%.

The number of museum visits fell slightly last year
According to Statistics Estonia, in 2015, Estonian museums were visited 3.3 million times, which is 4% less than a year before. The number of museums remained unchanged compared to 2014.

In March the decrease in exports of goods was influenced by electrical equipment and mineral products
According to Statistics Estonia, in March 2016, exports of goods decreased by 3% and imports by 1% compared to March of the previous year. In the 1st quarter exports decreased 2% and imports increased 1%.
