The industrial producer price index increased in April
In April, compared to the previous month, the producer price index was affected more than average by an increase in prices in the manufacture of chemicals, in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, in mining and quarrying and in the manufacture of wood, but also by a decrease in prices in the manufacture of parts and accessories for motor vehicles and in the manufacture of food products.
Compared to April 2016, the index was affected more than average by an increase in prices in the manufacture of fuel oils, food products and electronic equipment, but also by a decrease in prices in mining and quarrying and in the manufacture of parts and accessories for motor vehicles.

In April 2017, the export price index changed by 0.6% compared to March and by 6.4% compared to April 2016.
In April, compared to the previous month, the prices of articles of peat, petroleum products and beverages increased more than average, while the prices of leather products, parts and accessories for motor vehicles and metal products decreased more than average.
In April 2017, the import price index changed by 0.5% compared to March and by 5.8% compared to April 2016.
In April, compared to the previous month, the prices of agricultural products, electricity and metals increased more than average, while the prices of electronic products, textiles and electrical equipment decreased more than average.
The statistics are based on the questionnaires “Producer price”, ”Export price” and “Import price”, the deadline of which was 6 May 2017. Statistics Estonia published the monthly summary in ten working days. For the statistical activities “Producer price index of industrial output”, “Export price index” and “Import price index”, the main representative of public interest is the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications, commissioned by whom Statistics Estonia collects and analyses the data necessary for conducting the statistical activities.
