The industrial producer price index did not change in February

According to Statistics Estonia, in February 2017, the producer price index of industrial output changed by 0.0% compared to January and by 3.9% compared to February 2016.

In February, compared to the previous month, the producer price index was affected more than average by an increase in prices of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply and in the manufacture of textiles and beverages, but also by a decrease in prices in the manufacture of fuel oils and electronic equipment.

Compared to February 2016, the index was affected more than average by an increase in prices in the manufacture of fuel oils, electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply and in the manufacture of food and wood products, but also by a decrease in prices in mining and quarrying and in the manufacture of electrical equipment.

In February 2017, the export price index changed by 0.9% compared to January and by 8.1% compared to February 2016.

In February, compared to the previous month, the prices of beverages, electricity and parts and accessories for motor vehicles increased more than average, while the prices of rubber and plastic products, chemical products and electronic equipment decreased more than average.

In February 2017, the import price index changed by 0.9% compared to January and by 7.9% compared to February 2016.

In February, compared to the previous month, the prices of electricity, chemical and agricultural products increased more than average, while the prices of pharmaceutical preparations, rubber and plastic products decreased more than average.

The statistics are based on the questionnaires “Producer price”, ”Export price” and “Import price”, the deadline of which was 6 March 2017. Statistics Estonia published the monthly summary in 9 working days. For the statistical activities “Producer price index of industrial output”, “Export price index” and “Import price index”, the main representative of public interest is the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications, commissioned by whom Statistics Estonia collects and analyses the data necessary for conducting the statistical activities.
