The industrial producer price index increased in January
In January, compared to the previous month, the producer price index was affected more than average by an increase in prices in the manufacture of fuel oils, food products and wood and in mining and quarrying, but also by a decrease in prices of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply and in the manufacture of electrical equipment.

In January 2017, the export price index changed by 0.6% compared to December 2016 and by 5.5% compared to January 2016.
In January, compared to the previous month, the prices of parts and accessories for motor vehicles, wood and wood products and oil products increased more than average, while the prices of electrical equipment and building materials decreased more than average.
In January 2017, the import price index changed by 1.3% compared to December 2016 and by 5.7% compared to January 2016.
In January, compared to the previous month, the prices of oil products, agricultural products and chemical products increased more than average, while the prices of electricity, building materials, footwear and leather products decreased more than average.
The statistics are based on the questionnaires “Producer price”, ”Export price” and “Import price”, the deadline of which was 6 February 2017. Statistics Estonia published the monthly summary in 14 working days. For the statistical activities “Producer price index of industrial output”, “Export price index” and “Import price index”, the main representative of public interest is the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications, commissioned by whom Statistics Estonia collects and analyses the data necessary for conducting the statistical activities.
