In May the monthly change of the consumer price index was influenced the most by food
Goods were 0.1% more expensive compared to May 2013 and the price change of services was 0.0%.
Regulated prices of goods and services have risen by 0.3% compared to May of the previous year and the change of non-regulated prices has been 0.0% compared to that period.
Compared to May 2013, the consumer price index was mainly influenced by electricity, heat energy and fuels – heat energy was 3.7% cheaper and the electricity that arrived at homes was 3.3% cheaper. Compared to May of the previous year, 3.1% more expensive alcoholic beverages, 6.7% more expensive tobacco, nearly 14% cheaper mobile communication services and 6.1% more expensive dairy products also had a bigger impact on the index. Motor fuel was 0.1% more expensive than in the same month last year. Compared to May 2013, of food products, the prices of cheese have increased the most (8%) and the prices of sugar have decreased the most (31%).
In May compared to April, the consumer price index was mainly influenced by food – milk and dairy products were 1.3% and fruits 2.7% cheaper – and by the electricity that arrived at homes which was 1.6% more expensive. Compared to April, the prices of cabbage increased the most (54%) and the prices of cucumber decreased the most (34%).
