Today, on 16 October, Statistics Estonia holds the opening seminar of the “Increased availability of gender pay gap statistics” project at Swissôtel in Tallinn. It is a subproject of the “Promoting gender equality and work and family life balance” programme of Norway Grants in the period 2009–2014.

The aim of the seminar is to analyse what the society needs in order to monitor gender equality in the labour market. How are pay gap data used in the drafting of laws and development plans? How much do enterprises and institutions care about measuring the pay gap and ensuring equality? Also, the results of existing pay gap surveys will be presented and an overview of future outlooks will be given.

By implementing this subproject of the Norway Grants programme, Statistics Estonia aims to modernise gender pay gap statistics and ensure the annual monitoring of these statistics. The project will not increase the administrative burden of enterprises and individuals, as Statistics Estonia will create a database based on existing data and will supplement the database with information from administrative sources.

Seminar schedule (in Estonian)

The implementation period of the “Increased availability of gender pay gap statistics” project, funded by the Norway Grants 2009–2014 programme “Promoting gender equality and work and family life balance”, is 25 March 2013 to 31 December 2015.
