Producer price index slightly decreased in August

According to Statistics Estonia, in August 2011 the producer price index of industrial output changed by -0.1% compared to July and by 4.1% compared to August of the previous year.

In August compared to the previous month, the producer price index was more than average influenced by the decrease in prices in the production of food products, refined petroleum products and in the production of paper and paper products.

Compared to August 2010, the index was more than average influenced by the increase in prices in the production of food products and refined petroleum products as well as by the decrease in prices in the production of computer and electronic products.

In August 2011 the export price index changed by -1.1% compared to July 2011 and by 10.0% compared to August of the previous year.

In August compared to the previous month, the prices of mineral fuels, food and food products and plastic products decreased more than average, and the prices of some machinery and apparatus and building materials increased more than average.

In August 2011 the import price index changed by 1.2% compared to July 2011 and by 12.3% compared to August of the previous year.

In August compared to the previous month, the prices of mineral fuels and building materials increased more than average, and the prices of agricultural products and textile products decreased more than average.
