Consumer price index increased in December
Goods were 7.2% and services 3.2% more expensive compared to December 2009. Food products were 10.8% and manufactured goods 3.6% more expensive.
Regulated prices of goods and services have risen by 8.6% and non-regulated prices by 4.8% compared to December 2009.
Compared to December 2009, the index was mainly influenced by the 12.1% price increase of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which gave a half of the total rise of the index and, of which, in turn, over four fifths gave vegetables (45%), dairy products (19%), cereals (9.5%) and fruit (22%). The 10.3% price increase of electricity, heat energy and fuels and 15.1% price increase of motor fuel, which as a whole gave almost a third of the total change, also had a bigger impact on the index. Compared to December 2009, the prices of fresh vegetables (76%), fuel oil (39.5%), apples (39%), milk (37%) and groats (29) have gained the most, but the prices of photo cameras and TV-sets have decreased (21% and 14%, respectively).
In December compared to November 2010, the consumer price index was mainly influenced by the 4.2% price increase of motor fuel and 1% price increase of food. The 6.7% price increase of vegetables and 2.9% price increase of fruits gave the major share of the impact of food on the index. Compared to the previous month, the price of paprika has increased twice, the price of fresh cabbage 43% and the price of bananas 19%. Due to sales some brands of coffee were on average 11% cheaper than in November.
