Consumer price index increased in October
Goods were 5.6% and services 3.2% more expensive compared to October of the previous year. Food products were 8.5% and manufactured goods 2.7% more expensive.
Regulated prices of goods and services have risen by 8.1% and non-regulated prices by 3.7% compared to October of the previous year.
Compared to October of the previous year, the index was mainly influenced by the 8.9% price increase of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which gave nearly a half of the total rise of the index and, of which, in turn, the 20.7% price increase of dairy products and 36.8% price increase of vegetables accounted for three fourths. The 9.4% price increase of electricity, heat energy and fuels as a whole, giving almost a fifth of the total change, also had a larger impact on the index. Compared to the same period of the previous year, the prices of fresh vegetables, milk and coffee have gained the most (67.2%, 38.6% and 32.4%, respectively); but the prices of photographic goods and TV-sets, for example, have decreased (19.4% and 12.4%, respectively).
In October compared to September, the consumer price index was mainly influenced by the price increase of dairy products and bread products (7.2% and 7.4%, respectively) and by the 8% price decrease of fruit. The 2% price increase of food and non-alcoholic beverages comprised nearly four fifths of the monthly change. Compared to the previous month, the price of buckwheat has gained the most (88.8%), being followed by fresh cucumber (27.1%) and fine rye bread (26.7%). The prices of lemon (36.8%) and banana (18.9%) have decreased the most.
