In June the trade deficit increased
In June the exports of goods from Estonia amounted to 10.2 billion kroons (652 million euros) and imports to Estonia totalled 12.1 billion kroons (770 million euros). Exports increased by 0.7 billion kroons (42 million euros) and imports by 2.3 billion kroons (145 million euros) compared to June of the previous year. Trade deficit amounted to 1.9 billion kroons (118 million euros) in June. Compared to June of the previous year, the trade deficit was nearly eight times bigger.
The value of goods exported from Estonia to the European Union (EU) countries amounted to 7.1 billion kroons (454 million euros) accounting for 70% of Estonia’s total exports. Exports to the EU countries increased by 14% compared to June of the previous year. Exports to non-EU countries or the so-called third countries decreased by 7%.
Imports from the EU countries to Estonia totalled 9.5 billion kroons (604 million euros) with the share of 78% of Estonia’s total imports. Imports from the EU countries increased by 22% compared to June of the previous year. Imports from the so-called third countries increased by 28%.
Trade deficit between the EU countries comprised 2.4 billion kroons (150 million euros). The surplus of 0.5 billion kroons (32 million euros) was announced in the trade with third countries.
In June compared to May, exports declined by 10% and imports by 4%.

Statistics Estonia releases the first estimates about foreign trade on the 40th day after the end of the reference period. The estimates are revised on the 54th day. On the 24th of August, Statistics Estonia will release a more detailed overview about foreign trade in June. The trade data in euros have been published in the Statistical Database.
