Producer price indices increased in May

According to Statistics Estonia, in May 2010 the percentage change in the producer price index was 0.9% compared to April and 3.8% compared to May of the previous year.

In May compared to the previous month the producer price index was more than average influenced by the increase in prices in the manufacture of food products and in the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products and by the decrease in prices in the manufacture of building materials. Compared to May 2009, the prices increased most in production of wood and wood products and metal products.

In May 2010 the export price index increased 1.5% compared to April 2010 and 6.9% compared to May 2009.

In May compared to the previous month, the export price index was more than average influenced by the increase in prices in the extraction of peat, in the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products, in the manufacture of metals, in the manufacture of textiles and in the manufacture of food products.

In May 2010 the import price index increased 2.2% compared to April 2010 and 12.9% compared to May 2009.

In May compared to the previous month, the import price index was more than average influenced by the increase in prices of mineral fuels, electrical machinery and equipment and by the decrease in prices of agricultural products.
