In January exports and imports of goods declined sharply

According to Statistics Estonia, in January exports of goods in current prices totalled 7.2 billion kroons and imports 8.8 billion kroons. Compared to January of the previous year, exports declined by 29% and imports 36%. The decrease in value of exports and imports began already in November 2008.

In the second quarter of 2022, Estonian residents travelled much more than in the second quarter of last year: the number of domestic trips grew by 45% and the number of outbound trips by 319%, that is, over three times.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2021, the biggest increase compared to the previous year occurred in people’s use of the internet for participating in online courses. The popularity of e-commerce also grew, with 62% of the population aged 16–74 having made online purchases. Among enterprises, the use of enterprise resource planning and customer relationship management software continues to increase. Enterprises are also trying out AI technologies.

The production of short-term death statistics was prompted by the 2020 coronavirus crisis. The chart shows the weekly death statistics for 2010–2024. According to Statistics Estonia, 34 full-length films were produced in Estonia in 2018, of which 22 were distributed in cinemas in the same year. Cinema attendance set a new record – 3.6 million visits, i.e. 275 visits per 100 inhabitants.
