According to Statistics Estonia, on the labour market of Estonia, young people aged 15–24 have suffered the most due to the economic crisis; their unemployment increased more than three times in the 1st quarter of 2009 compared to the same period of the previous year.
Statistics Estonia has begun preparations for conducting the register-based Population and Housing Census (REGREL) of 2020. Next year’s Census will be the last where the entire population is interviewed.
According to Statistics Estonia, the percentage change of the construction price index was -3.4% in the 2nd quarter of 2010 compared to the 2nd quarter of the previous year. This index decreased for the sixth quarter in succession, though the decrease has slowed down.
According to Statistics Estonia, one out of five part-time employees would like to work more hours and is ready to do that if there is such an opportunity. In 2011, there were more than 12,000 such underemployed part-time workers.
This week, enumerators start visiting those dwellings where the e-census questionnaires were incomplete or contained contradictory information. There are almost 70,000 cases of this kind.
